This fall, I’ve had the opportunity to intern at Infinity Marketing in Greenville, South Carolina. Joining Infinity Marketing as a Human Resources Intern has been my greatest decision to date. So far, I have learned a lot about the marketing world and how the role of an HR professional plays within a marketing agency. I have worked closely with the HR Coordinator, Anna Hendrick, and the Director of Organizational Development, Cassie Thompson. They have both helped me tremendously with setting goals and giving me opportunities to reach them.
I have assisted with creating job posts from job descriptions, scheduling interviews, and sitting in on interviews with potential candidates, in addition to working with interns from other departments for this semester’s campaign. The intern campaign that we are working on is for the Greenville County Schools Transportation Department. Our goal for this campaign is to draw awareness to the need for bus drivers within our community while gaining experience with marketing firm operations.
Working on the intern campaign has been one of my favorite experiences because I get to collaborate with others and learn how Infinity’s departments work together to produce a final product. Another project I have enjoyed working on is writing the Employee Benefits Newsletter. I was presented with this task because I expressed my desire to improve my professional writing skills. Writing the newsletter trained me to distill important information and make it easily accessible and comprehensible for current and future employees, furthering my abilities to write in a professional and concise manner.
Taking part in this internship is preparing me to continue my studies in the HR field after my undergraduate education. My favorite part about interning at Infinity this semester was making connections with everyone, getting hands-on experience that I didn’t have before, and knowing that the work that I am doing will benefit the 80+ employees at the agency. I am looking forward to the rest of my internship because every day is an opportunity to learn something new and continue to make a difference.
